Reconnection V
April 12-13, 2012
Johnson County Community College
Overland Park, Kansas
Johnson County and Wyandotte County
VCMI presents two-day "Reconnection" events that celebrate early black settlements throughout Kansas. We are committed to identifying and reconnecting descendants of the Exodusters to each other, and connecting Kansas pre-Civil War and Civil War history to descendants of slaves and Exoduster descendants.
On Thursday, April 12 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas we will start with a day of lectures and workshops. Our luncheon will feature keynote speaker Dr. Carmaletta Williams. Presentations continue in the afternoon, and we will host an evening reception.
On Friday, April 13, a charter bus will take participants on a tour of the two colonies.
We will post updates as we confirm the details for Reconnection V, so please keep checking in.
